Dona Coleman Vinson, age 76, of Dillard, Ga., passed away on January 12, 2020.

Dona was born the daughter of the late Carlton Coleman and the late Margie Welborn on August 17, 1944. In her professional life she worked as a medical record specialist for Emory University. Dona was a member of the Lions Club, a supporter and board member of the North Georgia School of Gospel Music. She was a member of the Mountain Voices Choir and was proud that she was able to sing at Carnegie Hall. She was an active member and the pianist at the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church. Dona loved gardening, sewing and shopping. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Vinson; her daughter, Catherine Vinson; her brother, Grover Coleman; her grandson, C.J. Farrar.

Her survivors include her two daughters, Pam Shackelford (Scott) and Valerie Farrar (Casey); her two brothers, Bill Coleman (Rho) and Pat Coleman (Suzanne); her sister, Carla Thorton (Butch); her grandchildren, Josh Vinson, Caitlyn DiGiorgio (Valentino), Ryan Vinson, Riley Vinson, Devin Shackelford, Savannah Farrar; her great-grandchildren, Asher Vinson, Tino DiGiorgio.

A private family service will be held with burial to take place at the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church.

 The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Dona’s memory to North Georgia School of Gospel Music P.O. Box 2732 Cleveland, GA 30528.
