Ella Mae Nix Wilson, 91, of Highlands, N.C., passed away Thursday, July 14, 2022.

She was born June 16, 1931, in Rabun County, she was the daughter of the late Frank Nix and Leona Reed Nix. In addition to her parents, Ella Mae was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Wilson; two sisters, Clara Owens and Louise Owens; and four brothers, Claude Nix, Clyde Nix, George Nix and Dewey Nix.

Ella Mae was a homemaker and enjoyed working in her flowers. She was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church and previously served as a clerk, treasurer, Sunday school teacher, pianist and sang in the choir. Ella Mae was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be missed by many.

Ella Mae is survived by her children, Roger Lee Wilson (Anna), Edwin Wilson (Lisa) and Janice Allmond (Jimmy), all of Highlands; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday July 18, at Clear Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Rusty Wolfrey, the Rev. Mike Wilson and the Rev. Jim Kinard officiating. Burial followed at the Clear Creek Church cemetery. Pallbearers were Jimmy Allmond, Jason Woods, Paul Bradham, Steve Nix, Charles Reed, Matthew Wilson and Chris Fisher. The family received friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
