Gracie Stancil Dockins, 80, of Wiley, passed away on Sept. 22, 2021.

Gracie was born the daughter of the late Jess Stancil and the late Ellen Dills Stancil on Sept. 22, 1941. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, George Stancil, Frank Stancil, and Robert Stancil; and one sister, Frances Stancil.

In her professional life she worked as a Master Baker for Tallulah Falls School where she was affectionately called Ms. Gracie by the children there. She retired after 41 years of baking delicious cinnamon rolls, yeast rolls, pecan pies and other treats for her students. Gracie was an active member of Battle Branch Baptist Church in Clayton, teaching both Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed working for the Lord and she loved singing in the choir.

Her survivors include her husband of 60 years, John Dockins of the home; her sister, Gladys Sprinkle (Clint) of Hollywood; one daughter, Tracy Tyler (Steve) of Lakemont; two granddaughters, Keshia Amiri (El) of Clayton, and Katherine Tyler of Lakemont; and two great-grandchildren, Zayd Amiri and Naya Tyler.

A service was held at Battle Branch Baptist Church Saturday, Sept. 25, with the Rev. Madison McCrackin and the Rev. Cale Stancil officiating. Interment followed in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Tiger.

Beck Funeral Home, in Clayton, was in charge of the arrangements.
