Upon his graduation, he went on to pursue his higher education at the University of Wisconsin on a swimming scholarship. He then went on to transfer to Bob Jones University, where he attained a Bachelors degree in business. He went on to work for the Bible Memory Association, now known as Woodlands. He traveled to many different places while employed there. Greg came to Rabun County in 1990 because he wanted to raise his children in a community where family values were really valued.

Upon his retirement from operating the auction business, he then went to work in the real estate business. He also developed many storage units and other commercial property developments. He served on many boards throughout the country, as well as many local boards and organizations. Greg always walked close to God and always took his direction from his faith, and was always striving to live a life in a way pleasing to God.

In addition to his parents, his first wife, Susanna Peters, preceded him in death.
