Jennie Ruth McCrackin Taylor, 81, lifelong resident of Tiger, passed away on Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was born in Rabun County and was the daughter of the late Julius Madison McCrackin and Bessie Palleene Smith McCrackin.

Ruth attended Rabun County High School, and in her professional life, worked at Rabun County Parks and Recreation, Sangamo Electric, Maxway, owned and operated a convenience store on Warwoman, and managed the Rabun ABC store for more than 21 years. She was a loving grandmother who, in later years, enjoyed working on puzzles, researching her family tree, conversations with family and friends, flowers, pets, watching game shows and old westerns, and telling stories of her travels and early life. She attended Battle Branch Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Taylor was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray, Horace, and Jim McCrackin; two sisters, Ruby McCrackin and Annie Welborn; a grandson, Daniel; and the father of her children, Donald Jeptha Taylor

She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Amanda Bacik (Mike) of McKinney, Texas; two sons, Maxwell Ray (Wanda) of Tiger, Matthew Landis (Sarah) of Tiger; three grandchildren Matthew, Michael (Jessica), and Lauren; one brother, Frank McCrackin (Carolyn); caretaker and friend, Marsha McKay; and numerous nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
