Jimmy Hardy Speed (Jim), 80, of Lithia Springs, Ga., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2020 at his home.

He was born in Rabun County, Ga. on July 20, 1940, the son of the late Lewis S. Speed and Annie Mae Moore Speed. He spent most of his life in Douglas County, Ga. and worked for the Lathern Time Recorder Company as a maintenance supervisor. He was of the Baptist Faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Annie Mae Speed, and by two brothers, Bud and wife Julia Speed and Bill Speed (Martha); a sister, Judy Seed Harris (Johnny),

He is survived by his wife, Annette Speed of the home; four sons, Tim Speed of Lithia Springs, Ga., Jim Speed of Jacksonville, Fla., Terry Speed of Lithia Springs, Ga. and Jerry and Kim Speed of Rockmart, Ga.; three brothers, Dale and Donna Speed of Clayton, Ga., Eddie and Shirley Speed of Franklin, N.C., Wesley and Brenda Speed of Clarkesville, Ga; and five sisters, Mary Page of Waleska, Ga., Lena and Eddie Hatcher of Comer, Ga., Jean and Lamar Gittens of Dallas, Ga, and Linda and Ray Pate of Mobile, Ala. Two grandchildren, Chris and Ashley Speed, also survive,

The body is at Hunter Funeral Home and will be taken to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery for a graveside service on Sept. 18, 2020 at 2 p.m., with Pastor Raymond Page and Rev. Lamar Gittens officiating,
