Judy C. Bass, age 81, of Dillard Ga. died peacefully with her daughter by her side on Friday morning, June 11,2021 after a short but ferocious battle with cancer. Judy was born on March 26, 1940 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Richard E. Asburn and Goldie Carey.

Judy was an amazing woman, friend, grandmother and mother. Her friendship list was large and varied in Rabun County and Ohio. She spent many years in the local real estate community, owning Bass Real Estate.

It wasn’t until retirement that Judy got busy and she volunteered at Sharing and Caring, then went on to learn how to play a mean game of Pickleball. She belonged to a group of women who called themselves the LOLOD and another such group who referred to themselves as “The Rejects”. She played weekly poker and Mah-jongg and was always working a jigsaw puzzle.

Judy loved adventure, new challenges and knocking things off her bucket list, including a Segway tour in Savannah in 2018 . She traveled to many faraway places with her husband Vivian F. Bass while he was alive and after he died she went on to travel to Northern Scotland and the Out Islands of the Bahamas with her daughter and her family.

She lived a long full life, was loved by so many and left a lasting impression on all those fortunate enough to have met her.
She is survived by her daughter, Irene Bagley-Heath and her husband, Darren Bagley-Heath of Savannah Ga., three grandchildren, Dakota, Niki and Callum. Also surviving is an older brother, Jim Ashburn and sister Delores Astringer, both of Florida. Many nieces and nephews will miss her, but especially her niece Cherry Lynn Frederick of Ohio. Finally, she will be missed by her little rescue dog, Sarah Lee. Special thanks to her friends T.C., Miriam and Donna for all their help in the last few weeks.

Donations in Judy’s memory can be made to Paws 4 Life Tiger Ga. and would be greatly appreciated.

There will be a celebration of her life at a later date here in Dillard.
