Morene Delila Whitmire, 75, of Rabun Gap, Ga., passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born Oct. 25, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Numerous Marcus and Grace Lovell Marcus. She spent her life in Rabun County and worked as a creek operator for Burlington Industries and was a member of Wolffork Christian Fellowship.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Numerous and Grace Marcus, and by a brother, Harold Marcus; and three sisters, Lotha Gibson, Karen Carpenter and Elgerene Westbrook.

She is survived by her husband, Buddy Lewis Whitmire of the home; five sons, Tony (Tammy) Whitmire, Ben (Brenda) Whitmire, Tom Whitmire, Kenneth Whitmire and Earl (Shandy) Whitmire, all of Rabun Gap, Ga.; by one daughter, Ann (Tim) Lee of Franklin, N.C.; by a brother, Hasten (Charlene) Marcus of Tiger, Ga.; and by four sisters, Carrina Carpenter, Verda Daphne Lockridge, Jean Jordan and Geraldine Whitmire, all of Clayton, Ga. Twelve grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive.

The body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
