Rev. John Stuart Gipson, 87, of Lakemont, Ga. passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at his home.

Born in Lakemont, Ga. on July 21, 1933, he was the son of the late Carlton Gipson and Oma Turpin Gipson. He lived his life in Rabun County and worked for himself in the drywall business. He was a member of the Camp Creek Baptist Church and spent 50 years in ministry. He was the Pastor at Rocky Grove Baptist Church for 37 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlton and Oma Gipson, and a brother and a sister. He is survived by his wife, Edith Giles Gipson of the home; three sons, Doug Gipson (Rita) of Lakemont, Ga., Bruce Gibson (Betty Jo) of Lakemont, Ga. and Wayne Gipson (Rita) of Lakemont, Ga.; by three daughters, Judy Turpin of Lakemont, Ga., Gayla Gipson of Douglasville, Ga. and Betty Jo Gipson of Lakemont, Ga.; by two sisters, Jane Craig of Clayton, Ga. and Thelma Watts. Ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren also survive.

A graveside service was held Saturday, January 23, 2021, with Rev. Larry Brown and Rev. Tony Goss officiating. The family is at the home on Gipson Lane Lakemont, Ga.
