Robert Clyde Mashburn, Jr. (Bobby) of Clarkesville, Ga., age 67, died on Sept. 4, 2019, after a protracted period of illness.  Bobby was born in 1951 in Seattle, Washington, to JoAnne Ness Mashburn and Robert Clyde Mashburn, Sr. Raised in Tiger, Ga., Bobby was a member of the Tiger United Methodist Church. He attended schools in Rabun County, graduating from RCHS in 1969, where he was a proud member of the Wildcat marching band, as a trumpet and a tuba player. Bobby graduated from RCHS and attended Young Harris College where he met and married Marcia Martin. Bobby joined the Air Force in 1972 and was stationed in the former Canal Zone, Republic of Panama. After an honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1976 with rank of Staff Sergeant, Bobby moved to Clarkesville, Ga.

After completing a program in woodworking at North Georgia Technical College, Bobby became a lifelong furniture maker in Habersham County, Ga., both as a business owner and as a manager at the Cody Road Workshop in Mt. Airy, Ga.  He was a member of the Clarkesville First United Methodist Church. A great joy of his life was being a father to his daughter Tonia and proud grandfather to his grandchildren: Alex, Christian and Natalie.

Bobby is survived by his former wife, Marcia Martin of Clarksville, Ga.; daughter Tonia Elaine Godoy of Avon, Ct.; son-in-law Joao Godoy of Avon, Ct.; grandson Alexandre (Alex) Cole Godoy of Clarkesville, Ga.; grandson Christian Godoy of Storrs, Ct.; and granddaughter Natalie Godoy of Avon, Ct.; sister Barbara Anderson (Mark Hannan) of Washington, D.C.; brothers Chuck (Amy) Mashburn and Alan Mashburn of Tiger, Ga.; and sister Lori Angela (Hugh) Nobles of Suwanee, Ga. His parents, Robert (Bob) and JoAnne Mashburn, and sister, Luanne Mashburn Sosebee, are deceased.

Bobby will be remembered by family and friends for his great sense of humor and ready laughter.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Tiger United Methodist Church, with Rev. James Turpen officiating. A reception will follow.
