CLAYTON—The Rabun County Tourism Development Authority intends to dissolve, board chairman Alan Price said Tuesday.

The work of the TDA, including the production of tourism brochures, maintenance of a popular website, marketing and promotion will be turned over to the newly-created Forward Rabun organization, according to Price.

“We’re going to try to transition as quickly as we can,” Price said. “We don’t have any control over what (the county) is doing. They have put us in this position.”

TDA Executive Director Teka Earnhardt will assist with the transition for a period of time yet to be determined, according to Price.

Rick Story serves as the county’s Director of Development but will also transition to head up Forward Rabun. He said Tuesday the county’s goal has been to restructure, not dissolve, the TDA.

But Price said the TDA board has no interest in becoming a strictly advisory board with little real authority.
