Motorists traveling through the city of Dillard on Highway 441 are no stranger to roadwork in the area as the highway widening project is underway.
Dillard City Mayor Claude Dillard said Henry Dillard Street in Dillard city limits is expected to be closed beginning March 2 while the ground level is raised to the new bridge.
The mayor made the announcement during the Tuesday, Feb. 10, city council meeting upon speaking with officials from Vertical Earth, who is a contract company for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT).
Dillard said the closure is expected to last approximately 210 days, but he hopes it will be less time.
Dillard said Franklin Street in Dillard and Kelly’s Creek in Rabun Gap can be used as detours for motorists to navigate around the area.
