The 1960 Rabun County Wildcat football team was the first RCHS gridiron team to win a state playoff game with a 28-27 triumph over Roswell in the Region 4-B championship game played at Commerce. It would be the only state playoff victory in Rabun football history for the next 38 years – until the 1998 Wildcats of coach Sonny Smart won three straight playoff games to reach the Elite Eight.

The 2010-2011 Lady Wildcats basketball team was one of the best of the current stretch of dominating RCHS girls’ basketball teams as coach Dee Dee Dillard’s squad rolled to a 27-4 record and played their way into the Elite Eight of the state AA basketball tournament.
