Georgia’s Food Service Program for Kids, Happy Helpings, is in full swing bringing smiles to the faces of hundreds of children as the program supports healthy eating habits and physical activity.

The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning’s (DECAL) Nutrition Services Division partnered with Rabun County Family Connection to kick-off the summer meals season.

The program kicked off June 13 during an event at the pavilions behind the Rabun County Public Library with free lunch and fun activities. Children got to play games, blow bubbles, run around and fuel up with healthy meals during the event.

It also featured a hydration station and educational resources for parents.

Happy Helpings meal sites are located throughout the state at designated sites including parks, libraries, churches and apartment complexes.
