Celebrate folklife traditions and support local nonprofit Foxfire during the 17th annual Heritage Days on Friday, June 6, and Saturday, June 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Foxfire Village Museum, 98 Foxfire Lane, Mountain City.

Local agency selected for state protocol

Local nonprofit Fight Abuse in the Home (F.A.I.T.H.) has been selected by the State of Georgia to help develop a medical exam protocol for responding to domestic violence cases involving strangulation. The Non-Fatal Strangulation Assessment Pilot Program began on May 1 and F.A.I.T.H.

The expression goes that it’s “raining cats and dogs” outside and that certainly was the case last weekend as Rabun County received significant amounts of rainfall. The Germany Valley National Weather Service Cooperative Observation Station recorded 9.

Foxfire receives grant for removal of hazardous trees

The Rotary Club of Clayton is all about service above self and Rotarians continue to do their part to help local nonprofits thrive. In March, Foxfire received a grant from the Rotary Club of Clayton Foundation to remove trees that were hazardous to historic buildings at the museum site.
