Support Foxfire this weekend at the Mountaineer Festival

Appalachian history comes to life this Saturday, Oct. 3, at Foxfire’s annual Mountaineer Festival. It’s also the perfect opportunity to celebrate the nonprofit’s 60th anniversary. Community members are invited to a full day of fun, mountain crafts and traditions from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Richard’s Kids continues legacy of helping local children in need

Local nonprofit Richard’s Kids is answering Christ’s call to minister to the health and self-esteem of children in need in Rabun County. Richard’s Kids is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization incorporated within the state of Georgia.

Rabun County is celebrating National 4-H Week and highlighting youth excellence and leadership in the County area Oct. 4 through 10.University of Georgia Cooperative Extension in Rabun County reaches young people across the community.

Rabun County 4-H student wins first at Chattahoochee Mountain Fair

Rabun County 4-H student Mason Beck won first place in a photo contest at the Chattahoochee Mountain Fair. Mason is a 10th grader at Rabun County High School. His award recognizes his photography and adds to the accomplishments of Rabun County’s 4-H youth.

Rabun FFA alumni livestock shows draw 446 entries

August 20–22, the Rabun County FFA Alumni hosted its annual Livestock Fair at the Rabun Arena, bringing together youth livestock exhibitors from Rabun County and communities across the Southeast.

Forward Rabun Youth Leadership Program opens fifth year at Foxfire

Forward Rabun’s 2026–27 Youth Leadership Program kicked off Tuesday with a visit to the Foxfire Museum and Heritage Center in Mountain City, giving this year’s participants a firsthand look at the Appalachian culture and heritage that has shaped Rabun County for generations.

Henry retires as Rabun County Senior Center and Transit Director

Many community members and county officials celebrated Senior Center and Transit Director Wanda Henry during her retirement party held at the Rabun County Senior Center on Tuesday, Sept. 29. Henry retired after 20 years and thanked everyone for their support.

‘Hadestown’ comes to Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School, and it’s a ‘Wow’

Here’s a simple prescription if you like theater in any guise.  Go see “Hadestown” at Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School.This writer has been enjoying theater of all sorts for some 65 years, and I have never seen anything like the show brewing in the first-rate theater at the school.

12th Annual Twin Rivers Challenge returns Oct. 24

On Saturday, Oct. 24, Tallulah Falls School will host its 12th annual Twin Rivers Challenge, welcoming cyclists from across the Southeast and beyond for a ride through Northeast Georgia’s hills, river valleys, and backroads.
