Rabun’s newly proposed 2026-2028 region revealed

The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) announced the proposed region for Rabun County and the state’s other schools’ regions for the 2026-2028 reclassification cycle on the evening of Monday, Nov. 10. Rabun County will lose a rival opponent and gain a private school with a winning resume.

Led by a strong top-10 performance by freshman Kinley Jones, the Rabun County Lady Cats finished 14th at the state cross country meet in Carrollton on Saturday, Nov. 8.

ELBERTON – In its regular season finale, the Rabun County football team completed a comeback victory over region foe Elbert County, 31-23, on Halloween to set up a Nov. 14 first-round home playoff game for the Wildcats.

As if the Georgia football team needed to cause more potential heart attacks for its fans, the Bulldogs pulled off yet another fourth-quarter comeback win on Saturday against Florida in Jacksonville, Fla.

The Rabun County girls cross country team is state-bound after a strong showing at sectionals. The Lady Cat team earned its spot at the state meet in Carrollton this coming Saturday, Nov. 8, after finishing sixth overall at the sectional meet held at Jeff Davis High School last weekend.

RCHS boys hoops with highest ever preseason ranking ahead of season

Coming off of its third region championship and fourth straight Sweet 16 appearance, the expectations are as high as ever for Rabun County boys basketball, on the cusp of a new season. Rabun County, which went 23-6 last year before falling in the Sweet 16 to eventual state champions B.E.S.

Rabun back in Class AA with new GHSA classifications

The Georgia High School Association has released its proposed classifications for the 2026-2028 Reclassification Cycle and Rabun County has been moved up to Class AA. Rabun County currently is in Class A Division I, but the new classification brings back the seven classifications model.

Rabun County seeks potential No. 2 finish in region vs. Elbert

s, Rabun County football is looking to get back on track this Friday, Oct. 31, versus Elbert County in its regular-season finale. The game, which will be played in the famous “Granite Bowl” will kick off at 7:30 p.m.
