Man faces kidnapping charges

A suspect has been arrested for kidnapping by the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office after man hid inside a vehicle awaiting his victim. Austin Allen Fleming, 31, of Murphy, N.C.

Local events for F.A.I.T.H. continue for ‘Domestic Violence Awareness Month’

Local events to honor October as “Domestic Violence Awareness Month” continues in the upcoming days. During the month, Fight Abuse In The Home (F.A.I.T.H.) will bring more attention to domestic violence. On Oct. 14, Harvest of Heroes will be at the F.A.I.T.H. Shelter from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Clayton officially has new mayor

Clayton’s newest mayor – Roy Quilliams – now is on the job after being sworn in Tuesday morning. A former Rabun County Recreation Department director and two-term member of the Clayton city council, Quilliams was the lone mayoral qualifier for the 2026 term.

Forward Rabun Youth Leadership Program ‘off and running’

Forward Rabun’s Youth Leadership Program is off and running for the 2025-26 school year, as program participants convened last week for a tour of Rabun County’s own Foxfire Village and Museum.
