Eagle boys place fifth in Illinois

A Thanksgiving week trip to an Illinois tournament meant top competition for the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee boys. The Eagles won one of three games and placed fifth at the Kevin Brown Memorial Tournament of Champions.

Thomasville upends ’Cats in Class AA quarterfinal

Rabun County High’s pursuit for a Class AA state football championship will stretch to another season.  The Wildcats’ quarterfinal last Friday night at Thomasville marked the seventh straight year reaching that stage.

Thomasville next up as Wildcats continue title quest

A tall task awaits the Rabun County in the Class AA Elite Eight, as the top-ranked Wildcats visit No. 2 Thomasville Friday in a rematch of a 2019 quarterfinal. “We remember the trip,” RCHS head coach Jaybo Shaw said of the schools’ first and only meeting, a 38-24 Bulldog triumph.

TFS boys go to 3-0; girls win first

Two road triumphs last week pushed the Tallulah Falls School boys to 3-0 this season, while the girls split contests with Stephens County and Hart County. This week, the boys and girls were slated to play in the Andy Landers tournament in Athens. Their home openers will be Dec.

Brafford reaches milestone as RGNS boys win twice

Knocking down a combined 30 three-pointers, the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee boys dribblers began the season last week with two wins over Georgia High School Association (GHSA) opponents. The Eagles were scheduled to play this week at the Kevin Brown Memorial Tournament of Champions in Washington, Ill.

Rout puts ’Cats in second round

Playing a team twice in the same season can be tricky, but Rabun County had no trouble last Friday night in a first-round Class AA playoff. Visiting Pace Academy had no answers for the Wildcats, who breezed, 63-14 and booked a round-of-16 meeting with Region 2 runner-up Jeff Davis (10-1).
