City of Tiger hosts inaugural 5K race to benefit nonprofit

The City of Tiger’s inaugural “Run For Their Lives 5K” charity race was held on Saturday, Oct. 12, as the Tiger community came together for a morning of fun, fitness, and heartfelt support. The charity race that raised $33,500 was a registered 5K event.

Dillard Bluegrass Festival benefits 7 nonprofits

The community came out to support the 27th Dillard Bluegrass Benefit Festival in August which featured toe-tapping bluegrass music, delicious food and creative artists showcasing their crafts. The festival is a nonprofit event and all proceeds benefited local charities.

Rabun County Democrats host ‘Welcome to Fall’ family picnic

The Rabun County Democrats hosted a “Welcome to Fall” family picnic at the pavilion atop Black Rock Mountain State Park on Sept. 22. A large crowd gathered to enjoy the glorious weather, an abundance of hamburgers, hot dogs, home-cooked side dishes, and the company of friends, both old and new.

Dedicated to serving others

Those who have served in the United States military sacrificed much to give back to the country they love. Local veterans in Rabun County continue giving back to our community and recently fixed up the gazebo and gardens at Veterans Memorial Park.

Tallulah Falls School students serve the community

Tallulah Falls School students loaded up buses and spread out through the local community to lend a helping hand, and the timing could not have been better in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

Gerrells new sheriff in town months earlier than projected

Sheriff-elect Mark Anthony Gerrells was sworn in on Thursday, Oct. 3, to finish the 2021-2024 term of former sheriff Chad Nichols. Probate Judge Carlton H. Jones, III administered the Oath of Office in his courtroom. Gerrells currently is the sole candidate for sheriff who will appear on the Nov.
