Monday morning crash shuts down lanes of Ga. 15

A Monday morning crash on Ga. 15 (Highway 441) at Ramey Boulevard shut down travel lanes and resulted in minor injuries for two drivers. Guadalupe Mercado-Castillo, 22 of Clayton, was driving a gray 2012 Nissan Versa and was stopped on Ramey Blvd. waiting to pull out onto Ga. 15.

Teachers of the Year honored at Rabun County Schools

The Rabun County School System Teachers of the Year were honored with a banquet meal, special program and presentation of well-deserved awards Nov. 16 in the Fine Arts Building at RCHS.

Clayton appoints Joyce as new RCWSA member

Clayton City Council members voted at its Oct. 17 meeting to appoint John Joyce as one of Clayton’s two representatives on the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority (RCWSA). Brett Cohee is Clayton’s other representative on the Authority.

Sentencing announced in homicide by vehicle case

A man has been sentenced to 15 years with five years to serve on offenses related to a Dec. 9, 2022, two-vehicle crash at North Johnson Avenue in Mountain City that killed passenger Curt Lamar Talley, 49. According to documents filed in Rabun County Superior Court Oct.

Veterans Day is an important time to thank those brave men and women who made many sacrifices so we in the United States can live freely.

Old School Garden rooted in community

The Old School Garden celebrated the Fall season as its Fall Plant Sale on Oct. 7 drew enthusiastic gardeners and plant lovers to the garden, located on Highway 76 West near Clayton City Hall.
