Megan Broome/The Clayton Tribune. Memories came pouring in as a portion of the old Clayton Elementary School was demolished over the past week. In May 1976, the entire Clayton Elementary School building flooded up to the waist of an adult. In the Spring of 1982, a tornado took the roof off of the library (where the Clayton court room is currently located).

Fixing the slopes on Shady Side Dr. in Clayton along with repairs on South Main St. and Marsengill Dr. are part of a declaration made by Clayton city council members on Tuesday to declare a local state of emergency and receive emergency funding to fix these areas damaged by the March 25-26 storms and prevent it from damaging the road infrastructure.
