Rabun shows off at arena

The Rabun County FFA Alumni Livestock Shows were held on Aug. 22, 23 and 24 at the Rabun Arena. On Aug. 22, the goat and lamb shows were judged. On Aug. 23, it was the cattle. Then on Aug. 24, the pigs were judged.

November voters to decide on SPLOST referendum

Voters will head to the ballot box on Nov. 5 to decide who will represent them on the local, state and federal levels. Also to be voted on are alcohol referendums in the City of Clayton and a Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) for the entire county.

The sale of The Dillard House by the Dillard family to Atlanta-based Legacy Ventures is official as it closed just a few weeks ago in July. Now that Legacy Ventures, inc. has taken it over, a $52 million capital investment project for the Dillard House Farm Resort has been proposed.

Matthew Osborne, editor of The Northeast Georgian since November 2019, died suddenly Tuesday morning at his home in Cornelia. He was 47. Osborne was a professional journalist for 25 years, starting in 1999 as a sports writer at the Lake City (Fla.
