Golf tourney raises funds for high school, middle school teams

The weather was not the only thing that was hot on the 18-hole course at Kingwood on July 22 as the scores of 36 teams of golfers sizzled.

Rabun teams, athletes scheduled for Hall induction

The Rabun County Schools Athletic Hall of Fame will honor in its Class of 2022 two football teams; a high-scoring point guard; a former Georgia Tech football player; a state champion and one of the best girls basketball teams in school history.

RCHS, Rabun Gap football schedules start next month

The 2022 Rabun County High School football season will have some less-familiar opponents. RCHS opens on the road Aug. 19 at Haralson County; at home Aug. 26 with Stephens County; at home Sept. 2 with Adairsville; at Heard County Sept. 16; at home Sept.

Final camp of summer next week when volleyball takes the court

The “Lady Wildcat Volleyball Camp” hosted by Rabun County High School volleyball head coach April Jones will be next week from July 25-27 in the high school gym for school-aged girls between third and sixth grades. The high school volleyball team will be working with the middle school team.

Stockel’s strong Career

C.J. Stockel of the Rabun County Schools was inducted in June in Nashville, Tenn., into the National High School Strength Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Stockel is part of only the second-ever NHSSCA induction class.

More than 70 boys between the ages of 5 and 12 participated in the Junior Wildcat Football Camp at the Rabun County High School Proving Ground practice field Monday through Wednesday.

Lake Burton Fun Run draws 1,300

The July 2 Lake Burton Fun Run top finisher was 17-year-old Carson Speer from Atlanta with a time of 10:48.51. Second and third place finishers both were from Clarkesville with 20-year-old Thomas Hotard with 11:01.00 and 17-year-old Ryan Martin at 11:16.86.
