RGNS soccer soars toward playoffs

The Rabun Gap-Nacoochee varsity soccer team is 11-2-2 with only four games remaining in the regular season. Since their last home game on Sept. 13 where they won 6-1 against Asheville Christian Academy, the Eagles have scored six or more goals in each game.

Tallulah Falls earns top seed in region tourney

The Lady Indians, currently ranked 5 in Class 1A DI, made quick work of both opponents in the first TFS home match since Sept. 12. The result was a pair of 2-0 wins to secure the top spot atop the region heading into next week’s 8-A DI tournament.

A new state champion resides in Rabun County. After an undefeated season, Kai Hanifan-Wagner took first place at the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association state championships, crushing the state record by 21 seconds. Hanifan-Wagner’s time was 8:04.

RCMS tennis wins second straight title

The Rabun County middle school tennis teams won their playoffs for the second year in a row as they claimed victory on Rabun County’s tennis courts.

The Rabun County Wildcats fought back to defeat St. Francis 17-14 on Friday night. St. Francis, propelled by a 14-point second quarter, gave the Wildcats their first deficit of the season until senior Lang Windham put the game away with a 22-yard dash in the fourth quarter to win the game.

Hanifan-Wagner wins 8U district championship

The Rabun County Recreation Department cross country team took on 15 other teams during the district meet last weekend, with Kai Hanifan-Wager bringing home the 8U district championship. Hanifan-Wager also won the Highpoint Championship with a perfect score of 75, winning every meet of the season.

Wildcats beat Paladins, push to 6-0

Thursday night lights did not disappoint. Traveling a day early to avoid weather concerns from Hurricane Ian, the Rabun County Wildcats defeated the Fellowship Christian Paladins 21-16. The Paladins were Region 6-A champions from last year as well as making it to the Class A Private Final Four.
