LAKE BURTON— A hit-and-run boat accident on Lake Burton resulted in a 29-year-old woman being airlifted to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with injuries to her arm and head.

TIGER — Ashley Crosby had 14 kills and four aces to power the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee volleyball team past Rabun County 2-0 (25-9, 25-9) in a three-team match at Rabun County’s Ken Byrd Court on Tuesday night. Lexy Davis set up Crosby for kills throughout the night, finishing with six assists in the first set against the Wildcats. The Eagles used a 12-0 run to overpower Rabun and take a commanding 17-6 lead in the first set. David fed Crosby for a kill to tie things at 6, before Gianna Sparks’ kill put the Eagles ahead for good at 7-6.

PREP ROUNDUP: Rabun softball routs Putnam in region opener

The Rabun County softball team rallied in the third inning to rout Putnam County 10-3 in its region opener in Eatonton last Thursday. After trailing 1-0 after the 2nd inning, the Wildcats (2-2, 1-0 Region 8-AA) plated three runs across each of the next three innings and added another in the 6th. The Wildcats host Social Circle in another region contest at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Rabun ready for North Murray’s passing attack

TIGER — North Murray gave the Rabun County football team some trouble with pass coverage in last year’s meeting. The Wildcats are ready to defend the pass, while respecting the run game when they host the Mountaineers for their home opener at 7:30 p.m. at Frank Snyder Memorial Stadium on Friday. “We just have to be prepared in the secondary and ready for the passing game. Our D-line, down safeties and linebackers will be ready for that run,” cornerback Braxton Hicks said.

Stockton’s big night propels Cats past Devils in opener

STATESBORO — Gunner Stockton did a little bit of everything for Rabun County’s offense in the team’s season opener. It resulted in a victorious water cooler bath for first-year head coach Jaybo Shaw. Stockton ran for three scores and threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Tate Ramey, as Rabun opened the season beating the Bremen Blue Devils 34-13 at Georgia Southern’s Paulson Stadium last Saturday night.

RABUN GAP — The Rabun Gap-Nacoochee football team not only started fast, it started so fast that the officials had to end the game early. Matt Linn threw for 108 yards and three touchdowns, Paul Steidl caught two passes for two scores and the Eagles routed the Greenwood Raptors (S.C.) 41-0 in 19 minutes of their season opener last Saturday afternoon. “It was good to see our team get off to a fast start on Saturday,” coach Shawn Bryson said. “We constantly talk to are players about starting fast and playing with high energy. I'm glad that we showed that we can start fast. It's something that we can continue to build on going forward.”
