Currahee Cadet named Georgia’s top youth leader

MOUNTAIN CITY— The Georgia Wing of the Civil Air Patrol has officially named Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Lucy Vogelbacher as the Cadet of the Year for 2025, selecting her for the prestigious Colonel Benjamin Stone Award.

Early voting starts Monday for Primary

Seats in federal, state and local offices are up for grabs in the May 19 General Primary and Nonpartisan General Election. The ballots also include State Republican Party and State Democratic Party questions. Advance voting starts Monday, April 27, and continues through Friday, May 15.

Clyde touts military service, conservative agenda

U.S. Rep. Andrew Clyde is running against a cadre of challengers in the May 19 Primary to retain his seat representing Georgia’s 9th Congressional District. Clyde, a Republican, is up against fellow GOP’ers Sam Couvillon, the former mayor of Gainesville, and Hall County Commissioner Gregg Poole.

Gainesville mayor seeks nomination

Sam Couvillon would not have run for Congress if Doug Collins was still in the District 9 seat.He is one of three Republicans on the primary ballot for the seat.Couvillon most recently served as mayor of Gainesville for four years, and prior to that served eight years on Gainesville’s city council.

Poole bids to represent the GOP

Suwanee resident gets message out

Suwanee resident Caitlyn Gegen is running for Congress in Georgia’s 9th district in a bid to unseat incumbent Rep. Andrew Clyde.She decided to run after the recent killings of Renee Nicole Macklin Good and Alex Jeffrey Pretti by Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) earlier this year.

‘Fiddler on the Roof’ comes to Dillard Theater for three weekends

“If I were a rich man” and all the beloved favorites from “Fiddler on the Roof” will ring through the Dillard Theater beginning this Friday. The North Georgia Community Players production is directed by Rebecca Bilbrey and stars Atha Thomas as Tevye the milkman, and 29 other cast members.

Strokes of Genius

The North Georgia Arts Guild (NGAG) recognized talented seniors for their creative works of art during the April 16 scholarship awards ceremony. The ceremony was held prior to the monthly members meeting in the Fellowship Hall at Clayton First United Methodist Church.
