Woman arrested for hit-and-run after striking 441 crosswalk sign

A Clayton woman was booked into the Rabun County Detention Center following a hit-and-run, single-vehicle crash that damaged a Pedestrian Traffic Signal Walk/Don’t Walk sign. The crash occurred on Thursday, April 23, around 5:15 p.m. on Highway 441 at its intersection with Highway 76 East.

Paving projects announced for Clayton

Streets within the city of Clayton soon will be receiving an enhancement in the upcoming months following the city council’s approval of a paving contract with Rabun County.  The contract that was unanimously approved at by the council at the monthly meeting on April 14 is for a total of $540,755.

City of Mountain City discusses moratorium on issuing permits

City of Mountain City council members held a special called meeting on Thursday, April 23, to discuss enacting a moratorium on the issuance of any and all permits for special events, driveways, occupational tax, building and site developments, and/or structural renovations.

2026 Spring Business breakfast draws a crowd

Forward Rabun/Rabun County Chamber of Commerce hosted the “2026 Spring Business Breakfast” on Tuesday, April 28, at the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia with nearly 100 local leaders and business representatives attending.
