Clayton Rotary Foundation donates to Camp Evergreen, Rabun County BOE

The Clayton Rotary Foundation (CRF) recently presented a check for $3,800 to Camp Evergreen and the Rabun County Board of Education to support children attending camp this summer. Camp Evergreen is a wilderness-centered Christian camp located at Moccasin Creek State Park on Lake Burton.

Advance voting ends Friday

Advance voting for the June 16 General Election Runoff continues through Friday as the Rabun County Elections Office has already seen over 500 people cast their ballots. Early voting is being held at the Rabun County Board of Elections, 184 S. Main Street, Clayton, Suite 102, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sky Valley suspends Community Directory initiative

Sky Valley city council members voted to suspend an initiative to create a Community Directory that would provide contact information for city residents. The suspension was pending further information about how the directory would be distributed and the cost, among other details.

Tallulah Falls to vote on FY27 budget Thursday

Town of Tallulah Falls council members are scheduled to adopt the FY 2027 budget during the Thursday, June 11, regular meeting at 6 p.m. at Tallulah Falls Town Hall, 255 Main Street, Tallulah Falls. The town held a budget review public hearing on Tuesday, June 2.

Be mindful of ongoing construction on Hwy. 441

Anyone traveling on Highway 441 from Clayton to the North Carolina line can see that construction is ongoing for the Highway 441 widening project. Various areas of the highway are lined with orange safety barrels, construction equipment, workers and lane merge signs.

Greg and Laura Rhodes receive Buz Stone ‘Lake Rabun Cares’ Award

Greg and Laura Rhodes were recognized at the Lake Rabun Association’s (LRA) annual meeting during Memorial Day weekend on May 24 as recipients of the 2026 Buz Stone “Lake Rabun Cares” Award, which honors LRA members for their good work in the Rabun community.

Community members and visitors from all around got the opportunity to see Appalachian History come to life at the 18th annual Foxfire Heritage Days last weekend.

Providing care for mental health in our community

Physical limitations are not always visible. Blue handicap placards often do not disclose mental health crises.Lengthy mental illness issues are possible, but people also can have cases that are much more abrupt. Only medically certified professionals are capable of making a diagnosis.
