Distillery makes excise tax payment to city

After months of talks between the business and the City of Clayton, Moonrise Distillery paid its outstanding excise taxes by deadline established by the city council.The amount of $971.17 was paid by Moonrise Distillery owner Doug Nassaur in full on Wednesday, Aug.

Sky Valley-Scaly Mountain Volunteer Fire has ‘Community Appreciation Day’

The Sky Valley-Scaly Mountain Volunteer Fire Rescue Department held its annual Community Appreciation Day on Aug. 8 with many citizens who showed out to support public safety. The event was held at the Scaly Mountain Fire Station, 169 Hale Ridge Road, Scaly Mountain, N.C.

Commissioners vote to “protect Rabun County resources”

The Rabun County Board of Commissioners voted “to exhaust all avenues to protect Rabun County resources” during a special called morning meeting on Friday, Aug. 21.

Clayton, Sky Valley council qualifying starts Monday

Qualifying for city council seats in Sky Valley and Clayton starts Monday, Aug. 17. Sky Valley has a city General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 3, with two council member seats up for grabs. Those seats are currently held by Tony Allred and Jim Curtis.
