Vandiver receives Opportunity Quilt

F.A.I.T.H recognizes employees of year

F.A.I.T.H., Inc. recognized Aaron Holt and Kayla Talley as “Employee of the Year” last month. Staff submitted their nomination and Caroline Wallis, executive director, announced board members and staff at the annual strategic planning meeting.

Rabun selected for housing study

The growing need for affordable housing in Rabun County continues to be a hot-button issue as an influx of tourism and people moving to the area as permanent residents have affected housing availability for many working families within the past few years.

County library has limited opening after water damage

After being closed since December due to water damage, the Rabun County Public Library had a “limited opening” Feb. 1 with patrons being able to access and utilize only certain areas of the facility. The library will be open with limited availability through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

TFS names 2023 STAR Student, Teacher

The announcement of the STAR Student and STAR Teacher at Tallulah Falls School marks a high point for each academic year. Senior William “Trey” Greene of Demorest earned the highest score on the Scholastic Achievement Test for his class.

Rabun Gap’s Min claims STAR Student & picks Miller STAR Teacher

Aidan Min, a Class of 2023 boarding student from Seongnam-si, South Korea, has been named STAR Student at Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School, while Chip Miller earned the STAR Teacher recognition for 2023.

Franklin County fire destroys residential structure

ATLANTA – Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King recently announced that a residential structure on Pinehurst Road in Lavonia was destroyed by an evening fire on Jan. 24.
