Blalock sworn-in as county’s magistrate judge

James V. Blalock was sworn-in as Rabun County Magistrate Judge by Judge Russell W. Smith on Dec. 29, 2022, at the Rabun County Courthouse. Blalock won the seat for Judge of the Magistrate Court in the Nov. 8 General Election when he received 4,903 votes against write-in candidate Kyle Shook.

Paws 4 Life offers new ‘foster from afar’ program

The local nonprofit Rabun Paws 4 Life welcomes volunteers who are animal lovers and want to help care for the furry friends at the shelter through a new program, “foster from afar.

Corps creates a stairway to elevation at Warwoman Dell

WARWOMAN DELL – Thanks to a crew with the Southeast Conservation Corps (SECC), the Bartram Trail at Warwoman Dell has a new set of stone stairs for locals and visitors of all kinds to enjoy as they go on adventures and make memories during the new year.

Record frigid weather leads to frozen pipes, power outages

It might not have been a white Christmas in Rabun County but it was certainly a cold one as the county saw the coldest snap in almost a decade last weekend. The frigid temperatures and extremely high wind gusts caused many in Rabun County to be without water with burst pipes.
