Walker wins Rabun; Warnock wins state

Republican challenger Herschel Walker again was the top vote getter in Rabun County, but also true to form was incumbent Democrat Rev. Raphael Warnock having an edge statewide as Warnock won re-election Tuesday in Georgia’s battle for one of its two U.S. Senate seats.

Happy 100th birthday to Allie Moseley

Surrounded by family, neighbors, church members and life-long friends, Clayton resident Allie Moseley rang in her 100th birthday at a party held at St. James Episcopal Church in Clayton on Dec. 5. Moseley was born Alice Bowman on Dec. 5, 1922, in Chilhowie, Va., as the youngest of eight children.

Nichols earns stamp of approval as new Postmaster

Rabun County native Colby Nichols was recently stamped as the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) postmaster for Clayton, Mountain City, Rabun Gap, Dillard, and Sky Valley. The promotion was effective Nov. 5 and Nichols said he looks forward to helping people in the community where he was born and raised.

Postal deadlines and package safety during the holiday season

‘Tis the season for the hustle and bustle of people buying gifts and having packages and holiday cards shipped to loved ones around the country and even around the world. The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has all hands on deck as they deliver packages and mail to residences during the holiday season.

DILLARD– It was all fun and games in Dillard on Sunday, Dec. 4, as community members danced around Dillard to attend the City of Dillard Tree Lighting and Christmas event held at Dillard City Hall. The event brought fun and fellowship, along with the annual lighting of the town’s Christmas Tree.

Town of Tallulah Falls kicks off Christmas with the lighting of the floating tree

TALLULAH FALLS– The Town of Tallulah Falls kicked off the Christmas season in their town with a party and the lighting of the floating Christmas Tree on the lake Dec. 2.

Rain doesn’t ‘Grinch’ on Christmas parade

The forecast did not look favorable for an outdoor parade on Dec. 3, but some Clayton received a little extra Christmas spirit as the rain stopped in time for the “12 Days of Rabun County Christmas” event on Main Street.

Local turnout sets single-day record for early voting

There’s no doubt the upcoming runoff election between Democrat incumbent Rev. Raphael Warnock and Republican candidate Herschel Walker for the U.S. Senate seat has sparked heated debate from both sides.
