Dillard Bluegrass Festival yields ‘excellent turnout’ over the weekend

DILLARD– The town of Dillard was the place to be this past weekend as crowds showed out for the 25th Dillard Bluegrass and Barbeque Benefit Festival Aug. 5 and 6. This was the first Festival held since 2019, due to the event being canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rabun Gap man dies from crash injuries

A Rabun Gap man died Aug. 4 from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash on Georgia 15 at Kellys Creek Road in Rabun Gap July 28. George Thurmond, 82 of Rabun Gap, was in critical condition at Northeast Georgia Medical Center and died Aug. 4.

The 18th Big E Festival & Elvis Tribute Artists Competition was held at the Rabun County Civic Center on Aug. 5-7 in Clayton. The festival started Friday with a Meet & Greet in the downstairs Rock N Roll Café at the Civic Center.

Minor injuries in three-vehicle crash in Clayton

CLAYTON– Minor injuries were reported in a three-vehicle crash at the Highway 441 and Highway 76 East intersection near Walgreens in Clayton Aug. 3. Emergency personnel were dispatched around 7:19 a.m. A gray 2018 Ram 1500, driven by Cynthia Ann Spencer, 65, of Otto, N.C.
