Lady Eagles soar into title tilt

The Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Lady Eagles with a strong backing of the home team fans now are headed to Saturday’s 4A state championship basketball game after defeating Wesleyan Christian 58-50 in the semifinals Tuesday evening.

Both No. 1 seeds take care of business in 8-AA tournament

Make it two region titles for the Rabun County basketball programs. The Ladycats and Wildcats claimed victories at home on Feb. 18 as No. 1 seeds in the Region 8 tournament.

Rabun Gap wrestlers successful at state

Eight wrestlers from Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School competed at the Feb. 18 NCISAA state championship with six of the Eagle athletes placing at Providence Day tournament. Sophomore Clay Unruh of Clarkesville earned the 132-pound state title as he became the third state champion in program history.

Rabun Gap varsity baseball starts off 3-0

The Eagles varsity baseball team kicked off their season on the road against Union County on Feb. 15 and dominated by a final score of 18-3. Senior first baseman Jameson Madden went three for four at bat with four RBIs and a two-run double.

Eagles’ hoops season ends

The Eagles season ended in the second round of the playoffs as they lost to Covenant Day 63-52. Nate Brafford led the Eagles with 24 points; Theo Antinori scored 11 points; Domas Kauzonas finished with eight points; and Luke Earnhardt scored six points.

Wildcat wrestling pins down two top-four state finishes

A young group of Rabun County wrestlers grew up as the season progressed into a formidable program with a bright future. The Wildcats qualified 10 – the most ever in school history – to state sectionals.

Strong seasons catapult RCHS hoops into No. 1 seeds

Rabun County’s basketball programs are No. 1 seeds heading into tonight’s Class AA Region 8 tournament after the girls and boys claimed wins in their regular-season finales. Both RCHS teams will play in the region tourney thanks to the Ladycats earning the top seeding.

Soccer standout Kahwach signs with Barry University

Tallulah Falls soccer standout Honora Kahwach signed her letter of intent to join Barry University, an NCAA Division-II school located in Miami, Fla., on Feb. 9. The Barry Buccaneers reside in the Sunshine State Conference, and the women’s soccer team claims national titles in 1989, 1992 and 1993.

Lady Indians claim first-ever region tourney championship

For one of Tallulah Falls’s most successful programs over the past four years, the only thing missing was a region tournament championship. The Lady Indians can now check that box after a 47-38 win over Prince Avenue Christian at George Walton in the title game on Tuesday night.
