Lady Eagles romp past Towns, Carmel Christian

Balanced attacks keyed the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee girls dribblers last week in routs of Towns County and Carmel Christian. The Lady Eagles stood 5-3 after a Monday setback at Elbert County.  RGNS will host Hart County today in a rematch, and visit Asheville Christian next Tuesday.

Monday victory over Elbert is Rabun Gap boys’ fourth

A road victory Monday ended a brief two-game skid for the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee boys cagers, and elevated them to 4-4 on the young season. The win came on the heels of defeats to Carmel Christian and defending Georgia state champion Towns County by a combined seven points.

Win over Durham Academy is Rabun Gap girls’ third

A split last weekend left the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee girls dribblers 3-2 leading into play this week. The Lady Eagles posted a season-low in points allowed last Friday while beating Durham Academy in High Point, N.C., then fell by 10 the next day to Georgia High School Association foe Winder-Barrow.

RCHS boys, girls net hoops triumphs

Connor McKay reached the 1,000-point milestone as the Rabun County High boys hoopsters won twice last week. The girls drubbed Lakeview while splitting two games. Both the boys (2-2) and girls (1-2) were scheduled to visit Franklin, N.C., on Nov.

Eagle boys place fifth in Illinois

A Thanksgiving week trip to an Illinois tournament meant top competition for the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee boys. The Eagles won one of three games and placed fifth at the Kevin Brown Memorial Tournament of Champions.

Thomasville upends ’Cats in Class AA quarterfinal

Rabun County High’s pursuit for a Class AA state football championship will stretch to another season.  The Wildcats’ quarterfinal last Friday night at Thomasville marked the seventh straight year reaching that stage.

Thomasville next up as Wildcats continue title quest

A tall task awaits the Rabun County in the Class AA Elite Eight, as the top-ranked Wildcats visit No. 2 Thomasville Friday in a rematch of a 2019 quarterfinal. “We remember the trip,” RCHS head coach Jaybo Shaw said of the schools’ first and only meeting, a 38-24 Bulldog triumph.
