TFS swimmers take plunge

An annual tradition 10 years and counting took place on Dec. 15 as members of the Tallulah Falls School swim team took the “Polar Plunge” in Lake Tallulah. According to coach Rachel Nichols, the event was again a success.

RCHS hoops continue its winning ways

The Rabun County basketball teams have remained strong on the courts as they headed into the holidays. The RCHS boys were 9-3 and the Class AA top-10 ranked girls 9-2 as of Tuesday after both squads rattled off three consecutive victories.

Rifle grabs win over Class 7A Parkview

The Tallulah Falls School Precision Rifle team wasn’t daunted by the task of taking on a Class 7A opponent on the road. On Dec. 9, the rifle team beat Parkview 1,117-971.

Rabun Gap successful in string of basketball contests

The Rabun Gap-Nacoochee boys now stand at 9-6 on the season after playing five games over a seven-day period. During the seven days, the Eagles went an impressive 4-1. On Dec. 21, the Eagles dropped its lone game in the sequence to an undefeated Charlotte Latin team at home 68-45.

Middle school Indians ride big first quarter to win; Lady Indians fall in tight one

The Tallulah Falls Middle School basketball teams played host to Summit Charter as the girls dropped a close contest and the Indians used an explosive first quarter on the way to an easy win. The girls led off the night with a 13-10 loss.

Stockton named Gatorade state Player of the Year

Adding to his long list of records and accolades, Rabun County High quarterback Gunner Stockton has been named the 2021-22 Gatorade Georgia Football Player of the Year.

Wildcats’ McKay signs to play basketball at Lander

Rabun County High basketball standout Connor McKay will fulfill his goal to play collegiately after signing Dec. 1 with Lander University in Greenwood, S.C. Through the Wildcats’ first six games this season, McKay averaged a double-double — 26.3 points and 11 rebounds — while shooting 92.

Wildcats dominate all-region football squad

Befitting a dominant region champion, Rabun County High football has plenty of representation on the all-Region 8-AA team.  After a season of tormenting defenses and resetting records, quarterback Gunner Stockton was named Player of the Year.
