Cats fall short of win, region title

TIGER – In a battle of two of the top teams in Region 8 Class A Division I, Rabun County came up just short, falling to Athens Academy on Oct. 24 by a 49-46 score.

Strong second half propels Rabun Gap

The No. 84 nationally ranked Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School football team picked up its sixth win of the regular season in the team’s final road game, 56-21 over Cannon School. Rabun Gap will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 31, at home for Senior Night versus Legacy Puerto Rico.

The Lady Indians completed their dream season with a GIAA state runner-up finish, marking the best showing at state in school history. Competing Saturday morning at Middle Georgia State College in Macon, TFS was well ahead of third-place St.

Wildcats looking to keep region dreams alive vs. visiting Spartans

Perhaps the most important game of Rabun County’s football season will be played on Friday night, when the Wildcats welcome the No. 1 team in their region, Athens Academy, to Frank Snyder Memorial Stadium.

Eagles move past Greenies 42-0 despite slow start

RABUN GAP – No. 83 nationally ranked Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School football claimed a 42-0 win over conference rival Christ School on Friday, Oct. 17. The win for the Eagles moves them to 5-4 on the season and gives them their first-ever lead in the all-time series versus the Greenies, 9-8.

ATHENS – The No. 9 ranked Georgia Bulldogs are unkillable. That sentiment – which has reigned true all season – was demonstrated once again this week in Georgia’s 43-35 win over No. 5 Ole Miss.

Lady Cats softball players earn region honors

Five Rabun County softball players earned region honors for their individual performances this season, the team announced on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Monday. Those five players were River Evans, Presley Burrell, Madeline Suarez, Loren Mazarky and Chloe Shirley.
