North Georgia Highland Games return to Clayton in September

Traditional Scottish games come back to Clayton Saturday, Sept. 30, for the North Georgia Highland Games. Games include Caber Toss; Hammer Throw; Weight for Distance; Stone Toss; Weight Over Bar and Sheaf Toss. The all-day event takes place at the Rabun County Civic Center Pavilions, 201 W.

Annual golf tournament ready to tee it up Wednesday, Aug. 2

The Sid Weber Memorial Cancer Fund annual golf tournament is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 2 at the Sky Valley Country Club, 568 Sky Valley Way, Sky Valley. The Sid Weber Cancer Fund pays up to $2,500 in non-medical expenses for Rabun County residents who have been diagnosed with cancer.

Running for the Goal

Fall sports teams are preparing for another big Rabun County High School season as the RCHS fields are receiving new artificial turf. Also with the student-athletes, RCHS Wildcat Marching Band members are readying for their football halftime performances and the season’s festivals. LEFT: G.B.
