37th annual Lake Burton Fun Run two weeks away

The 37th annual Lake Burton Fun Run will take place on Saturday, July 1. Runners may register for the two-mile event online at www.lakeburtonfunrun.com as the run begins at LaPrade’s Marina in Clarkesville at Moccasin Creek State Park. The $35 race begins at 9 a.m.

Rabun Ramble Road Race registration open

The 17th annual Rabun Ramble Road Race starts at 7:30 a.m on Saturday, July 1. The 5K and 10K races start and end at the Lake Rabun Pavilion. For more information about the $35 race, go to the Rabun Ramble website at rabunramble.com.

Wrestling Wildcat Cody takes first place at Bootlegger Tournament

Justin Cody, a rising senior Wildcat at Rabun County High School, won the 2023 Nuway Combat Bootlegger Wrestling Tournament in Gatlinburg, Tenn., on June 3-4. Cody won first place All American Wrestler in the 195-pound weight class with zero points scored against him.

Fifty-two local kids signed up for the camp, which included a shooting competition where campers would have 20 to 25 seconds to score as many points as possible.

Where There's a Wheel, There's a Way

More than 1,000 bicyclists came to Clayton on Saturday and Sunday, June 3-4, to start off the 43rd annual Bicycle Ride Across Georgia as BRAG riders relished in the splendor of nature and faced the challenges of the mountainous terrain.

Clayton plays host for Bike Ride Across Georgia

For the first time since 2012, the 2023 Bicycle Ride Across Georgia (BRAG) is coming to Rabun County. The city of Clayton will act as the starting point for the seven-day bike ride that spans nearly 400 miles across Georgia.

Rabun Gap summer day camps begin next week

Starting June 5, Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School will begin their summer day camps. Each camp is scheduled for a week, spanning from Monday to Friday. Most camps will begin at 9 a.m. and end at noon, while others will begin at 1 p.m. and end at 4 p.m.

In the final match of her high school career, senior Hannah Lundy put the Lady Indians golf team on her back and guided the Tallulah Falls School to a fifth-place finish at state.

Football season is fast approaching. As a precursor to the 2023 Class A Division 1 season in Region 8, the Rabun County football team hosted their annual Spring Game on Thursday, May 18. Despite the rain, the Wildcats showed flashes of a new team led by rising sophomore quarterback Ty Truelove.
