Trees please hundreds of festival goers

For two days crowds flowed through the Rabun County Civic Center to awe at this year’s Rabun Festival of Trees and Holiday Extravaganza and the event did not disappoint. While putting the hundreds who attended in even more of a Christmas mood, the vendors were very successful on Nov. 28 and Nov.

Help F.A.I.T.H. halt abuse by giving back this holiday season

Local nonprofit Fight Abuse In The Home (F.A.I.T.H.) advocates, empowers, prevents, and protects the victims of abuse and violence in Northeast Georgia. Its staff works tirelessly to protect society’s most vulnerable and offer trauma-informed services to all victims of abuse.

Rotary Impact Club collects more than 2 tons of food and over $1,700 in cash for food bank

Rotarians prioritize service above self and that’s just what the Rotary Impact Club of Clayton did when it recently organized a food drive for the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia. The food and fund drive was held at Walmart in Clayton on Saturday, Nov. 8.

Rabun 4-Hers answer the call in Elite Northeast District Trivia Contest

Seven Rabun County 4-H’ers competed in the Georgia 4-H Elite Northeast District Trivia Contest in one of the newer 4-H District competitions in Athens, Ga., on Monday, Nov. 24.

‘Rotten Apples’ showcases collaborative creativity at TFS Middle School

From lighting to sound to a fabulously creative stage design, everyone was in on the action to make the TFS middle school production of “Rotten Apples” come to life. “Performing Arts Director Jonathan Roberts helped with all things art, lighting, and fun,” said director Carrie Layer.

Miss RCHS Bass, Jr. Miss RCHS Brown to represent school

Rabun County High School celebrated a long-standing tradition on Nov. 8 as it hosted the 70th Annual Miss RCHS Scholarship Pageant. The event brought together students, families, and community members to honor excellence, leadership, and school spirit.

Traffic disruptions in Clayton expected on Hwy. 441 N.

Motorists should expect intermittent traffic delays on Highway 441 North in Clayton at Pinnacle Drive and Clayburne Street from now through Dec. 11, as Georgia Power Transmission will begin work setting new power poles, removing existing poles and installing new overhead wires.

Rabun County dedicates courts via partnership

TIGER – After a postponement due to the early winter weather in Rabun County, the Rabun County Recreation Department and Rabun Pickleball Club dedicated the new pickleball courts, a public-and-private partnership, in front of a large crowd of players and Rabun Countians on Nov. 19.
