TIGER– The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office kicked off the 2022 Citizens’ Academy Tuesday night with an introduction into the Office of the Sheriff from its origins to present day. “I love talking about the Office of the Sheriff,” said Sheriff Chad Nichols during the class.

Clayton city council members, mayor and new officials met Monday morning in a first-ever roundtable with department heads. The intent of the gathers, according to officials, was for those in charge of city departments to address their overall status.

Rabun 4-H’ers compete at Rock Eagle

Two of our Rabun County 4-H’ers journeyed to Rock Eagle 4-H Center for the first face-to-face District Project Achievement in two years on March 4-6. In Project Achievement, students choose a project area of interest, research the topic, and write and present a presentation.

Thirteen sixth graders traveled to Union County to compete in Cloverleaf Project Achievement on March 19. It was one of the largest Cloverleaf DPA’s held in several years with nine counties participating and 233 competitors.

Gainesville man charged with DUI, airlifted following three-vehicle crash in Tallulah Falls

A Gainesville man is charged with DUI and other traffic charges and was airlifted following a three-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Tallulah Falls that resulted in serious injuries.  The crash occurred on Ga. 15 just past Tallulah Falls dam.

Saturday Georgia Bigfoot Conference puts footprint on Clayton

The Rabun County Civic Center plays host to a large-scale event Saturday as Clayton once again is the site of the Georgia Bigfoot Conference with its guest speakers, researchers and other surprises. The doors will open at 8:30 a.m. and the April 16 conference will be from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Rabun County Schools hosts ‘Rabun Idol’

TIGER– Rabun Idol saw many talented students sing their hearts out in front of an audience at the Rabun County High School Fine Arts Building March 19. The contest was one night this year, as opposed to being held three nights in years prior. It consisted of two rounds of performances.
