Inmates give gifts to kids in community effort

TIGER– The Rabun County Detention Center and Tabernacle Baptist Church teamed up so inmates could provide gifts to their children for Christmas. John Hutcheson, pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church, said he reached out to Capt.

Merry Christmas from Mr. and Mrs. Claus

Santa Claus and Mrs. Hollie Claus greet children at the Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate company in Clayton on Dec. 17. They passed out cookies and candy canes and spoke with children about their Christmas wishes. The pair gives gifts to children in need in the community.

Exercise caution with home heating equipment

ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King asks all Georgians to exercise caution while using home heating equipment this winter. If used carelessly, heating equipment such as space heaters and fireplaces can become fire hazards.

CLAYTON– A fire at the Rabun County Golf Course Pro Shop and Wildcat Grill in Clayton Dec. 23 resulted in multiple golf carts destroyed and heat and smoke damage.

Pit Vipers finish 2021 season ‘smoking hot’

The Tallulah Falls School Pit Vipers competition barbecue team finished the 2021 BBQ season as repeat state champions in the Georgia BBQ Championship Series.

Dills selected by peers as sheriff’s office Deputy of the Year

Ever since he can remember, Deputy Dakota Dills wanted to be part of the change and become a law enforcement officer. His peers saw that passion for helping others and voted Dills as the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office Deputy of the Year.

Sale to benefit Paws 4 Life raises $491

Gallery 441 and Tallulah Gorgeous in Dillard held an Art Sale and Clothing Rummage last weekend and raised $491 for Paws 4 Life. The event was held at the retail stores, located at 6795 Highway 441 in Dillard and featured dogs ready for adoption from Paws 4 Life.
