Evans rescues woman from structure fire

LAKEMONT-- An elderly, non-ambulatory woman was rescued from a structure fire in Lakemont by a Hospice CNA on Monday.  Habersham resident Hayley Evans works for PruittHealth Hospice of Gainesville and has been a CNA for 10 years. She’s served the Rabun County area for about two-and-a-half years.

Suspect sought in Rabun Gap armed robbery

The last century has brought about many historic events like the Great Depression, World War II, the Vietnam War and countless other events, and inventions like computers and cars and rockets that shaped the course of history. And Althalene Waters has lived through it all.

Auditor: Clayton finances 'in good shape'

CLAYTON-- The city of Clayton is “in good shape” financially according to the FY 2020 audit presented by Jay Green at Tuesday’s council meeting.  Council member Ara Joyce was not present for the regular council meeting, but was present for the prior executive session.

CLAYTON-- Collaboration among community leaders was the focal point for Tuesday’s Forward Rabun board meeting held at the Rabun County Civic Center.  This was the first meeting of the full 21-member board since the conception of  Forward Rabun.

Freedom Lighthouse celebrates 2 years at Lakemont facility

LAKEMONT-- Freedom Ministries Lighthouse, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Rabun County, celebrated their two-year anniversary at the Lakemont facility last Thursday.  It’s a nine-month Christ-centered recovery residence for men. It provides in-house and outpatient services to people in the community.
