5 involved in 3-vehicle accident Sunday in front of hospital

CLAYTON-- A three-vehicle accident involving five people on Ga. 15 at the intersection of Mountain City Rd. on Sunday resulted in non-life threatening injuries.  The accident occurred at approximately 3:24 p.m., according to the Georgia State Patrol Motor Vehicle Crash Report.

Bussard named new Chamber president

Lakemont resident Cliff Bussard was appointed President of the Rabun County Chamber of Commerce recently.  Bussard’s first day was Monday and a meet-and-greet was held at the Rabun County Welcome Center.  He completed an internship with Forward Rabun earlier this year.

CLAYTON-- The Rabun County Board of Commissioners approved a bid from the Rabun Gap business Pittman Construction to resurface 8.5 miles of road in the county, at their meeting last Tuesday.  Pittman Construction was the lowest bidder in the amount of $1,459,201.50.

CLAYTON-- The Rabun County Board of Commissioners approved $10,000 in funding for senior judges after the Chief Judge Russell Smith of the Mountain Judicial Circuit addressed commissioners at their meeting last Tuesday.

Garcia receives 30 years for vehicle deaths

CLAYTON-- Sergio Garcia, 21, pleaded guilty to two counts of homicide by vehicle in the first degree in Rabun County Superior Court on Friday for a high-speed crash in Dillard in 2019 that resulted in the death of two women. Garcia was 19-years-old at the time of the accident.
