GDPH now confirming 9 COVID-19 cases in Rabun County

The Georgia Department of Health has issued their 7 p.m. update on COVID-19. One new case was reported in Rabun County.  The state has reported nine confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Rabun County as of Wednesday, April 22.    No confirmed deaths have been reported for Rabun County.

RABUN GAP—Starting at the crack of dawn Saturday, approximately 70 volunteers sorted, bagged and distributed food packages with an estimated retail value of $80,000 at Rabun Gap Presbyterian Church.

CLAYTON—How many cases of COVID-19 are there in Rabun County? The Georgia Department of Public Health website reported Tuesday that eight people have tested positive for the virus so far. In neighboring Habersham County, the number was 107.

Clayton city council discusses COVID-19 issues

CLAYTON— Clayton City Council members discussed the potential repercussions in Rabun County when Gov. Brian Kemp’s Executive Order goes into effect to reopen the government at their city council meeting Tuesday.

The COVID-19 pandemic has altered the lives of everyone in some way, whether it be the loss of a senior year, the loss of a job, or the devastation of losing a loved one who succumbed to the unforgiving virus.

Counting COVID-19 testing cases on county level would be helpful

Is Rabun County incredibly lucky, or is our COVID-19 case count severely underreported? The answer may be that it’s a little bit of both. As of Tuesday afternoon, the Georgia Dept. of Public Health District 2 website was reporting eight confirmed cases of COVID-19 locally, with no fatalities.

Clayton removes trees, makes sidewalk improvements

CLAYTON— The Cypress trees that once lined Main Street in Clayton have been removed as part of the city’s Downtown Master Plan for parks, parking and streetscape improvements.  Council members voted 3-1 in September to approve the plan, spearheaded by the Savannah-based consulting firm TSW.
