Wooden boats to be in parade Sunday

LAKE BURTON—Lake Burton turns 100 this year, and one way local residents are celebrating is by making a little history of their own. The first-ever Lake Burton Wooden Boat Parade will take place this Sunday, May 24, said organizer Andrew Harris. The public is invited to attend this free event.

COVID-19 pandemic can't stop praise and worship

OTTO— Rabun County Fire Services along with five other fire departments from North Carolina assisted Otto Fire and Rescue on a commercial structure fire on Thursday, May 7.  At approximately 5:30 p.m.

Hospital pays tax lien, remains open

CLAYTON—Mountain Lakes Medical Center is open for business and current on their 2019 taxes, officials said Wednesday morning. The hospital received notice of seizure for delinquent taxes May 12, promoting concerns about their status after a photo of the posted notice was shared on social media.

CLAYTON— Law enforcement officers wear many forms of protective gear to stay safe in the line of duty, and during this time of the coronavirus pandemic the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office is taking extra precautions to keep its officers safe.

Microbrewery may be coming to Clayton soon

CLAYTON— The city of Clayton will be seeing its first brewing company operate in town in the near future. Clayton city council members discussed administering an alcohol license to Currahee Brewing Company at the work session Tuesday.
