Blue Jean Ball raises $$ for Mountain Learning Enrichment

Mountain Learning Enrichment hosted the Blue Jean Ball, a fundraising event to raise money for the up-and-coming school in the Playhouse on Saturday, July 20. Attendees ate barbeque, danced to the sounds of Blue Ridge Lonesome, a local band, and participated in cake walks and a silent auction.

Public health talk event a success

The second quarterly Rabun County Board of Health Public Health Talk was a success as the community showed out for the educational event on Tuesday, July 16. “The second quarterly public health talk was well-attended with about 50 adults and 20 kids,” said Dr.

Clayton voters to see Brunch Bill referendum on November ballot

Voters within the City of Clayton will decide on whether to allow a “Brunch Bill” during the Nov. 5 general election. If passed by voters, it would authorize businesses in the City of Clayton that sell alcohol to sell alcoholic beverages by the drink beginning at 11 a.m.

RCWSA offers bilingual services to customers

Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority now offers bilingual services to its customers since the recent hiring of billing clerk Jennifer Gomez-Mora. Gomez-Mora, who was born in Gainesville and graduated from Rabun County High School in 2018, said she felt comfortable adapting to her new role.

Lunsford retires from City of Clayton after 14 years of service

More than $80,000 raised for Rabun County nonprofits at Lake Burton Tour of Homes

The Lake Burton Civic Association (LBCA) hosted the biennial Lake Burton Tour of Homes event, displaying lakefront homes for the organization’s members and raising over $80,000 for Rabun County nonprofits on June 22. The LBCA Foundation will allocate the funds raised in the coming year.
