Agencies rescue two lost subjects at Tallulah Gorge

Rabun County Search and Rescue (SAR), Rabun County Fire Services Station 7-Tallulah Falls, and Habersham County Emergency Services responded to a call for two lost female subjects in the area of Oceana Falls in the Tallulah Gorge State Park at approximately 9:36 p.m. on Thursday, June 20.

Sid Weber BBQ fundraiser tickets have sold out

Tickets for the annual Sid Weber Memorial Cancer Fund BBQ on July 5 have sold out. “This is the earliest we have ever sold out, even though we increased our available tickets by 50,” said Ken Walton, president of the cancer charity.

Rabun County native shows off over 70 years of gardening experience

Rabun County native Joey Davenport tends to this year’s garden at his home on the east side of Clayton where he is growing okra, squash, cucumbers, pumpkins, watermelons, tomatoes, beans, and cantaloupe. He proudly holds a cabbage and Pattypan squash he recently grew.

Anderson receives 2024 Buz Stone Award

The Buz Stone Award was created in 2012 to recognize Buz for leading the Lake Rabun Foundation for 25 years and for his service to the community. The award is presented each year to an LRA member who, like Buz, “serves the welfare of Rabun County.

Rabun Gap’s iconic golden cupola returns home

The final phase of the restoration and renovation of Hodgson Hall at Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School is complete. The school’s iconic cupola was reset to its original placement atop the historic academic building that faces Highway 441 on Friday, June 14.

Lake Burton’s Fourth of July Ski Show: A Patriotic Tradition

The annual Fourth of July water ski show on Lake Burton has become a beloved tradition. What started as a small family performance in 2009 has become a spectacular event featuring the Lake Burton Ski Patriots, a team of about 40 skiers ages 9 to 65.
