An election debate will be Oct. 11 at the Rabun County Civic Center for the two contested post seats for the Clayton city council. The Wednesday debate that is free to attend begins at 6 p.m.

Foxfire Mountaineer Festival coming to Clayton this weekend

The community is gearing up for the Foxfire Mountaineer Festival coming to Clayton this weekend. “This is our biggest fundraiser of the year,” said Todd Faircloth, executive director of Foxfire Museum and Appalachian Heritage Center. The event is Saturday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

After almost two decades, the City of Clayton and the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority (RCWSA) have officially entered into an intergovernmental agreement regarding consolidation of water and sewer facilities and services.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and together we can stop abuse. The nonprofit Fight Abuse in the Home (F.A.I.T.H.) is encouraging businesses and individuals to “paint the town purple” to bring awareness to a problem that affects every community, including our own.
