Vehicle strikes power pole in Mountain City single-vehicle crash

MOUNTAIN CITY– A single vehicle crash in Mountain City Wednesday, March 29, resulted in a power pole and concrete barrier being struck in the area of Ga. 15 and West Langston Avenue. At approximately 4:33 p.m., first responders were dispatched to Ga.

Georgia State Park and Historic Site employees receive awards during ranger conference

Several Georgia State Park and Historic Site employees were honored recently during a Rangers Conference held at Unicoi State Park. Around 140 assistant managers, interpretive rangers, administrative staff and maintenance rangers participated in training activities, team building and sharing ideas.

The Tallulah Falls Railroad was instrumental in the late 1880s for opening up the Northeast Georgia Mountains to the outside world. The railroad summoned industry and trade to the region and allowed fortunes to be made in the capitalization of local natural resources like timber and water.

Dr. Gober retires after 48 years in medical field

TIGER– Dr. Guy Gober has officially retired and a party held in his honor on Friday, March 31, at Tiger Clinic in Tiger was met with dozens of people who congratulated him and wished him well for the future. Gober most recently practiced as a urologist at Tiger Clinic with Dr. Stephen Jarrard.
