Sky Valley city council members officially voted to rescind combined $5 million in grant funding from two different grants for the municipality’s proposed sewer project. The decision came in a 3-1 vote by council members during the March 26 special called council meeting.

MedLink Georgia is celebrating 50 years of “Quality Healthcare for All” this year. The celebration continues as officials held the grand opening of the new Rabun Health Campus with a Forward Rabun/Rabun County Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting on March 26. The 31,000-plus sq. ft.

Starting April 1, the sales tax in Rabun County will return to 8 percent for the next five years following the passing of the Transportation Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) in the Nov. 4, 2025, election. Currently, the local sales tax stands at 7 percent.

Rabun County High School (RCHS) will see Kelsey Thompson as its new principal beginning July 1 after she was approved for the promotion by Rabun County Board of Education (BOE) members during the March 23 meeting. Board members voted following an executive session to discuss personnel.
